Mashrabia Gallery of Contemporary Art is pleased to host "Trader of Simplicity" exhibition in its 4th edition. This independent exhibition is organized by a group of young Egyptian artists, who aim to keep alive the memory of their friend Hesham Rezk (aka Trader of Simplicity) by giving a chance to young artists to showcase their work to a broader audience. After the death of young graffiti artist Hesham Rezk in 2014, his friends have been gathering each year to organize artistic events to commemorate his name, his work, his ideas, his influence, and his soul. This year, a group of 25 young artists will hold a workshop where they will be experimenting with different media and contemporary practices, dive into new forms of expression, and attempt to find new ways to celebrate and re-invent Hesham’s message.

2015: the first Commemoration of Hesham Rizk was held. Many of his friends decided to immortalize his work by organising an independent art exhibition where his works were displayed, accompanied by a documentary film telling the story of Hesham Rizk.
"I will stay long-haired, shabby, and wearing old shoes to lose all those who care only about my appearance and keep only those who care about my essence"
2016: these dreamer artists met and agreed not to only commemorate him, but to eternalise him, by creating an "artistic vision" inspired by Hesham Rizk’s strong influence, which is deeply embedded within them.
"The souls that fly in the horizons meet and hug, and fight ugliness and malice. Soul is a memory. Body is a memory. Human survival depends on his existence in other people’s memory. Remembrance lasts as long as memory exists”
2017: the 3rd commemoration of Hesham Rizk took place. As if he had never left, but was reborn in his young years.
"Fight against the malice we live and drown in"
2018: for the 4th year in a row, these young artists invite new generations to share this dream that has never abandoned us, in the hope to preserve his memory. In the art exhibition "Trader of Simplicity 2018" they open the doors to generations looking for unbridled art and innovation.

معرض تاجر البساطة 4

يُسعِد معرض مشربية للفن المعاصر استضافة معرض "تاجر البساطة" في نسخته الرابعة. و هو معرض يقوم بتنظيمه مجموعة من الفنانين و الفنانات المصريين الشباب تخليدًا لذكرى صديقهم الراحل الفنان هشام رزق "المعروف أيضا بتاجر البساطة"، و تكملةً لرؤيته الفنية. و يُلاحظ تطور و تغيُر الرؤية الفنية للمعرض عن كل سنة. ففي نسخه الثلاثة الأولى ، كان الهدف هو مجرد إحياء ذكرى هشام رزق بعرض جانب من أعماله الفنية بالإضافة إلى عرض فيلم وثائقي عن حياته. وتطور بعد ذلك ليشمل تخليدًا لأفكاره و رؤيته الفنية الخاصة و الخروج بأعمال فنية جديدة مستوحاة منها.
وبذلك فالقائمين على هذه النسخة من معرض "تاجر البساطة" يُريدون دعم الفنانين المصريين الشباب عن طريق خلق فرص و مساحة بالعمل في مواضيع فنية معاصرة وحديثة، و عرض أعمالهم الفنية على جمهورٍ أوسع. المعرض سيكون ناتج ورشة عمل فنية يشارك بها ٢٥ فنان و فنانة. الافتتاح سيكون يوم الخميس الموافق ٥ يوليو ٢٠١٨ ويستمر حتى الأحد ١٥ يوليو ٢٠١٨ بقاعة مشربية المرفقة.
