"Echos and Currents: 35 Years of Contemporary Art at Mashrabia Gallery" reflects on the gallery’s ongoing presence within Cairo’s contemporary art landscape over the past three and a half decades. Rather than a traditional retrospective, the exhibition offers a space to revisit the gallery’s journey alongside the many artists who have shaped its story, both established and emerging.
Since its founding, Mashrabia Gallery has remained committed to providing consistent support to young artists, as well as highlighting the voices of women artists whose practices have often challenged and expanded the field. The gallery has also sought to build meaningful connections between local and international art scenes through participation in international art fairs and collaborations that have introduced Egyptian artists to wider audiences and welcomed global artists into the Cairo context.
This exhibition provides a space for reflection on shared histories and ongoing conversations. It approaches the archive not as something fixed, but as something open, formed by memory, dialogue, and the many relationships that continue to evolve within and around the gallery.

35 عامًا من الفن المعاصر في مشربية جاليري: يعكس هذا المعرض الحضور المستمر للجاليري ضمن مشهد الفن المعاصر في القاهرة على مدار العقود الثلاثة والنصف الماضية. يقدم المعرض مساحة لإعادة النظر في رحلة الجاليري جنباً إلى جنب مع العديد من الفنانين الذين شكلوا قصته.
منذ تأسيسه، ظل جاليري مشربية ملتزماً بتقديم دعم مستمر للفنانين الشباب، بالإضافة إلى تسليط الضوء على أصوات الفنانات اللواتي غالباً ما تحدت ممارساتهن هذا المجال ووسعته. كما سعى الجاليري إلى بناء روابط بين المشهدين الفنيين المحلي والدولي من خلال المشاركة في المعارض الفنية الدولية والتعاونات التي قدمت الفنانين المصريين لجمهور أوسع ورحبت بفنانين عالميين في سياق القاهرة.
يقدم هذا المعرض مساحة للتفكير في التواريخ المشتركة والحوارات المستمرة. من خلال التعامل مع الأرشيف كشيء مفتوح يتشكل بالذاكرة والحوار والعلاقات العديدة التي تستمر في التطور داخل وخارج الجاليري.
